  • SAN ANTONIO(AP) - Sophia Young returned to the starting lineup and scored 17 points to lead the San Antonio Silver Stars to a 64-53 win over the Indiana Fever on Wednesday night.

Young, who did not play in Sunday's loss to Minnesota because of a strained groin, was 8-for-12 from the field.

Ann Wauters scored 12 and Vickie Johnson 10 as San Antonio (4-4) remained undefeated at home.

Katie Douglas and Tan White both had 13 to lead the Fever (4-3). Ebony Hoffman added nine rebounds in Indiana's first loss in San Antonio.

San Antonio, down by two entering the second quarter, used its defense to hold the Fever to eight points on 3 of 18 (17 percent) shooting, and then went on a 12-0 run with 4 minutes left in the half.

Young scored five of those points during that streak as the Silver Stars entered halftime up 28-20.

The Fever cut the lead to eight on a layup by White with 2:16 left in the third quarter.

But San Antonio would storm back and pushed the lead to 19, its largest of the game, when Johnson's 14-foot jumper made it 64-45 with 4:29 left.

San Antonio, the worst shooting team in the league at 38.7 percent, got hot against the top defense in the WNBA. San Antonio went 25 of 60 from the field for 41 percent for the game.

Becky Hammon, who needed four points to hit 3,000 for her career, scored only two. She was 1-for-7 from the field.
