Sophia Blog: Not So Super Sunday... Sophia’s Version
So we had a game against one of our rivals, Besiktas. Stacy Lovelace and
Vanessa Hayden play for them. Anyway, here goes...
The foreigners (that would be us) didn’t know how to get to their gym and our team didn’t want to drive our team bus because the Besiktas fans can be real psycho. They were afraid for our lives. LOL. For real though….Chantelle, Leigh Anne and I followed one of our Turkish teammates.
I decided to drive (Smart choice? Maybe not).
As we were following my teammate, I thought she was driving too slow. So, I decided to drive faster (like Ricky Bobby… I only know how to go fast… LOL). We ran into a little traffic after a few minutes, slowed down and was bumper to bumper with this car. I said something to Leigh Anne, who was in the back seat, but she didn’t hear me so I turned around to tell her… And then, all of a sudden, I heard Chantelle scream and I felt the crash.
When I heard Chan scream, I slammed on the brakes at the same time because you know I have the cat-like reflexes. But, I hit the car at the same time Chan screamed. I asked Chan, “Did you not see me getting close to the car?” She said yes, but she was saying in her head, “Slow down, So.”
Now, I don’t know about y’all, but I can’t read minds. I wish I could sometimes so I could make smart comments to people, but I can’t.
Now we’re on the highway. We had to get out of the car, which caused even more traffic than there was already (I think that’s because we were two tall, beautiful black girls… African-American to be politically correct). I looked at the guy’s car and there was just one little scratch and some paint on his bumper. So, then tell me why this guy made us stay on the highway for an hour, waiting for the police to get there (mind you we have a game to get to). The police came and they wanted us to give them some of our team stuff in exchange for letting us go.
I told Chan to give them her jacket (it was freezing outside). But Chan wouldn’t give up her jacket. Selfish, right? One of our managers came then and stayed with the guy, the car and the police. Meanwhile, we all got in our Turkish teammate’s car.
We got to the game just in time, then lost by three in OT. Told you it was a bad day.
