Silver Stars visit the San Antonio Food Bank

Silver Stars players Ruth Riley, Helen Darling and Megan Frazee recently joined 12 women ages 40 and over at the San Antonio Food Bank to learn how to cook a heart healthy meal (grilled chicken, roasted vegetable medley, red potatoes and non-alcoholic antioxidant fruit sangria) with help from a nutritionist. Each player led a group of four women through the demonstration.

Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association’s nationwide movement to help raise awareness about heart disease as the No. 1 killer of American women. The San Antonio Silver Stars will celebrate Go Red night June 23 when they host the Phoenix Mercury at the AT&T Center. Fans can have their heart health numbers checked at the game with free health screenings from the American Heart Association, letting them know if they are in a healthy range or at risk of high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.
