Silver Stars Superlatives Winners

Newcomer of the Year – Shameka Christon
Veteran forward Shameka Christon edged out rookies Shenise Johnson and Ziomara Morrison to earn the Newcomer of the Year title. Acquired during free agency, Christon made her return to the WNBA in 2012 after missing the previous two seasons due to injury. Christon played in all 36 games, making 33 starts at forward. She averaged 7.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.5 blocks per game through the regular-season. She averaged 8.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per contest through the two Western Conference Semifinal games.
Sixth Woman of the Year – Jia Perkins
Veteran guard Jia Perkins ran away with the Sixth Woman of the Year vote, earning her second-consecutive Silver Stars Sixth Woman of the Year award. Perkins came off the bench in 30 regular-season games, averaging 11.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
Performance of the Year – Becky Hammon
For the second-consecutive season, veteran guard Becky Hammon blew away the competition for Performance of the Year with her season-best 30 points in San Antonio's 85-66 win against Phoenix. Hammon connected on 9-of-14 from the floor and was 7-for-9 from beyond the arc, tying her own franchise record for 3-point field goals made in a single game.
Game of the Year – Sept. 23 vs. Minnesota
The Sept. 23 regular-season finale edged out the competition to earn the Game of the Year title. San Antonio capped the regular season with a 99-84 win against the Lynx. In a full team effort, six players scored in double figures for the Silver Stars, led by Danielle Adams' game-high 28 points. Center Tangela Smith ranked second on the team with a season-best 10 points and career-high six assists.
