SASilverstars.com's Ben Hunt is catching up with the Silver Stars players and coaches during the off-season to find out 'What's Up' with them.
Ben Hunt: Looking back, what was it like playing for one of the most storied college basketball programs of all-time?
Shanna Crossley: You feel honored. Going through it was one of the most difficult things I've ever done, but looking back on it I couldn't be more proud of being a Lady Vol. Tennessee is one program you can talk about that everyone knows about. People ask, "Where did you play in college?" And when I tell them Tennessee their eyes get big and they're almost in awe. They may not know you or your game from Adam, but when they hear you say that you played at UT, it's like you immediately have their respect.
BH: You are one of the most deadly long range shooters in the league, how did you develop your shooting touch?
SC: Work, work, and more work. My father is a coach and has always been as long as I can remember. I would go in the gym with him while he was at practice and basically grew up as a gym rat. I would catch on to the things he was teaching my brother and started to really love the game. Then, my dad would help me whenever I asked him and would rebound, teaching me the correct form along the way. But who am I really kidding, it's definitely a gift from God.
BH: If you could invite any three people to lunch who would they be and why?
SC: Dead or alive? Since I can't wake the dead in this scenario, then I'll go with...any living president so i could listen to see what's really going on in this world, my grandma because i barely get to see her, and Santa Claus because he would pay for my trip, food, and give me gifts!
BH: What is the most difficult part of the offseason for you?
SC: The monotony. I have quite possibly the shortest attention span of all time and I need variety. Since the off-season is so long, it's hard to always "change it up." It's great being able to play against different guys here and there, but poor Olaf always has to think up of new drills for me to do.
BH: Other than yourself who is the funniest person on the team and what's the funniest thing they've done?
SC: I would have to say Erin, and what hasn't she done that's funny? I would say one of the funniest times with her has been for expense of her poor heart when she was coming back from her knee injury. She was on a fast break in practice, but was still uncertain of her knee. She threw the ball up and it clanged off the bottom of the back board as she just ran right through and circled back around saying, "ahhhhh, sorry!" as if nothing happened. She freaked out but everyone lost it and coach was so dumbfounded he didn't know what just happened, but he couldn't get mad.
