Silver Stars Fend Off the Fever in OT

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Sophia Young scored 24 points, including four in overtime, to lead the San Antonio Silver Stars to a 71-63 win over the short-handed Indiana Fever on Tuesday night.
Becky Hammon added 17 points and Vickie Johnson scored 12 for the Silver Stars (15-7), who snapped a four-game losing streak against Indiana. Marie Ferdinand-Harris reached a milestone during the game, scoring the 2000th point of her career.
Anna DeForge had 15 points and Tammy Sutton-Brown added 12 for the Fever (16-7), who lost a season-high third straight game.
San Antonio began overtime with baskets by Young and Ruth Riley to open a 65-61 advantage. Following Tully Bevilaqua's jumper for Indiana, Young shot two free throws and Riley made a jumper to extend the lead to 69-63.
The Silver Stars took their biggest lead of the fourth quarter at 55-49 on Hammon's jumper with 4:35 remaining, but the Fever regained a 61-59 advantage following Bevilaqua's 3-pointer with 22 seconds left in regulation.
Hammon tied it at 61 with a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left, and Indiana's Tamika Whitmore missed a jumper at the buzzer to force overtime.
The Silver Stars started the third quarter with three straight baskets by Johnson to cut the Fever's 29-22 halftime lead to one point. Minutes later, San Antonio took a 34-33 edge following Camille Little's jumper.
