WASHINGTON (AP) - Sophia Young matched her season-high with 24 points and Erin Buescher added 19 points as the San Antonio Silver Stars defeated the Washington Mystics 84-79 on Tuesday night.

Ruth Riley and Vickie Johnson each scored 10 points for the Silver Stars (10-6), who won their second straight and sixth in their last eight games.

Alana Beard scored 26 points and Monique Currie added 16 for the Mystics (5-12), who have lost two straight after a three-game winning streak.

Despite playing a second straight game without WNBA assist leader Becky Hammon, the Silver Stars offense was more than efficient, shooting a season-high 56.4 percent from the field. It was the first game this season they shot over 50 percent.

Young, who scored 20 points in the second half, connected on 9-of-12 from the floor and Riley made all five of her attempts. Helen Darling, who started in place of Hammon, had a season-high eight assists with only two turnovers.

The Silver Stars had their largest second-half lead at 67-59 with 9:41 remaining in the game. Five straight Mystics points cut the lead to three, but they would get no closer.

Milton-Jones made two free throws with 23.7 seconds to cut the lead to 81-77, but the Silver Stars, who hit 17-of-21 from the free throw line, nailed three of four in the closing seconds to seal the win.

The Mystics scored the first 10 points of the second half to lead 44-40. Young then started her second half surge, scoring the next five points. After Beard, who also scored 20 second-half points, hit one of two from the line to tie the game at 45, Camille Little scored for the Silver Stars and they never trailed again.
