Silver Stars Fall To Comets
  • Box Score

HOUSTON (AP) - Becky Hammon had a game-high 32 points on 10-of-16 shooting, but it was not enough for San Antonio (8-5) to overcome the Comets. Houston ended the Silver Stars' four-game winning streak 75-67.

The Silver Stars had a thee-point lead at the end of the first half, but faded down the stretch and committed a season-high 30 turnovers, the most ever for a Comets' opponent.

Sophia Young and Vickie Johnson each added nine points for San Antonio.

Houston scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to take a 58-54 lead with 7:20 left in the game, but Hammon stopped the run for the Silver Stars with a three-point play just 10 seconds later.

Houston responded with an 8-1 run, led by Thompson's four points, to take a game-high eight-point lead when Maiga-Ba made a layup with 2:38 left in the game.

But the Silver Stars closed out the half with a 13-4 run to take a 38-35 lead at halftime. Johnson scored four points, all at the free-throw line, and Shanna Crossley hit a 3-pointer with 1:25 to go.
