The San Antonio Silver Stars recently raised funds to support breast health awareness by hosting the 2nd Annual Silver Stars Golf Scramble Tournament. Silver Stars players and coaching staff were on hand to visit with participants during this fun golf event with proceeds benefiting the Breast Health Awareness Program, a WNBA league initiative.
While on the greens, four-person teams mingled with members of the 2007 Silver Stars team while at the same time directly supporting a few of San Antonio’s breast health non-profit groups. Before the Scramble, teams were treated to a lunch provided by the Hyatt Hill Country Golf Club and following play, an awards ceremony, auction and dinner buffet provided by Martha’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina.
The Breast Health Awareness Program focuses on generating awareness and educating women about breast cancer, along with raising funds to support this initiative. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit American Cancer Society, Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing, Giving, Sharing, Inc.), SLEW (Support Lending for Emotional Well-Being) and the Cancer Therapy and Research Center.
