Silver Stars center Ruth Riley recently helped host the 3rd Annual Silver Stars 5K Run/Walk presented by the U.S. Army benefiting the Fisher House.
Thousands of local San Antonio participants ran and walked the grounds of the AT&T Center to raise money for the Fisher House. The race was a fun event for all ages and a portion of the proceeds from the event provide free or low cost lodging to veterans and military families receiving treatment at Brooke Army Medical Center right here in San Antonio.
Participants received a commemorative race t-shirt and a ticket to see the Silver Stars vs. Houston Comets on August 11th. Racers were entered in categories according to age and gender with awards given to top finishers of all gender and age divisions.
A Fisher House is a "home away from home" so that America's military families can be together during extended treatment for a serious illness or lengthy therapy.
