Shock Will ’Bring It’ to The Joe’ for WNBA Playoff Game

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – September 21, 2004 – The Detroit Shock announced today that the team will play the first game of the 2004 WNBA Playoffs this Friday vs. New York at 8 p.m. at Joe Louis Arena. The 2004 WNBA season was stopped for the entire month of August due to the Athens Olympics, lengthening the season and creating scheduling conflicts at The Palace that have forced the franchise to switch home venues. The Shock will “Bring it to The Joe” this Friday, September 24 vs. New York in Game One of the WNBA Playoffs.

The WNBA Playoffs are a best-of-three format for all three rounds and because the Shock are the third seed playing against New York, the second seed, they play at home first before going on the road to finish the series. Dates and locations if the Shock make it to the conference finals are TBA. If the Shock make it to the WNBA Finals, the team will return to The Palace to play their home games. Here is a look at the current WNBA Playoff schedule.
