Kristen Rasmussen and Sequoia Holmes to Compete for Spot on Shock Roster

Shock Signs Two Players to Complete Training Camp Roster

Auburn Hills, MI - Detroit Shock Head Coach and General Manager Bill Laimbeer announced today that the team has signed former Michigan State product, Kristen Rasmussen and free agent guard Sequoia Holmes to training camp contracts. The Shock’s roster now stands at the maximum 15 players.

Rasmussen, a 6-foot-4 forward, averaged 2.5 ppg and 2.7 rpg in 31 games last season for the Minnesota Lynx before being waived on January 9th. The Lynx acquired Rasmussen on March 14, 2008, in a trade with the Connecticut Sun. In 276 career games spanning nine seasons in the WNBA, Rasmussen holds averages of 4.4 ppg and 3.6 rpg.

Holmes signed a training camp contract with the Houston Comets last season and averaged 3.1 ppg and 2.1 rpg in 17 games (three starts).

A University of Nevada-Las Vegas product, Holmes led the All-Mountain West Conference in scoring with 18.3 points per game, ranked third in rebounds (7.3 rpg) and third in steals (2.33 spg) her senior year. She earned All-Conference honors three times and was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2007. She finished her UNLV career with 1,485 points, ranking seventh among all-time UNLV scorers.
