Youthful Dancers from the age of 10 and older invited to try out

Shockwave Dance Team Auditions Set for Monday, April 20

The Detroit Shock will hold auditions for the 2009 Shockwave Dance Team on Monday, April 20 at 3:30 p.m. at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Potential Shockwave dancers must be at least 10 years of age and will perform at each Shock home game and other related functions of the 2008 WNBA Champions. Shockwave is a co-ed hip hop dance team which performs from April through September at all Shock WNBA home games.

The Shockwave are looking for talented males and females ages 10 years and older to dance and also serve as ambassadors to the Shock, representing the team both on and off the court. Candidates are encouraged to pre-register by emailing their name and contact info to: rgirard@palacenet.com, but walk-ins are welcome to audition subject to time constraints. Candidates should enter through the West Atrium and will be directed to the registration area.

The audition process will include the following steps: registration, learn and perform dance moves, perform a special talent and personal interviews.

Candidates must be 10 or older by May 2009 and are required to provide a proof of age (birth certificate, drivers license, etc.), recent photo and entertainment/business resume if they have one -- along with their registration. If under the age of 18, candidates must have a parent accompanying them. There is a $20.00 audition fee.

Choreography will be provided by the audition staff and dancers are encouraged to wear workout or dance attire dress to impress.
