Mayor Proclaims September 18th Detroit Shock Day at Rally of Champions
DETROIT, MI - September 17, 2003 - Detroit Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick proclaimed September 18 as “Detroit Shock Day” in honor of the 2003 WNBA Champions. Kilpatrick hosted the team at a Rally of Champions in downtown Detroit on Thursday, September 18.
The proclamation and Rally of Champions will take place at 1:30 p.m. in front of the Spirit of Detroit statue at the corner of Woodward and Jefferson.
Detroit Shock fans are encouraged to attend the Rally, pay tribute to Detroit’s newest champions, and hear from members of the team.
Because of the brief ceremony, Woodward Ave. between E. Jefferson and Larned will be closed from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
