Shock vs Silver Stars Recap

The San Antonio Silver Stars defeated the Tulsa Shock, 78-67, September 12, 2012 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK.

At 4:40 in the first quarter the Silver Stars went on a 14-3 run to pull ahead 23-11 with 33.3 seconds left. San Antonio led Tulsa 25-14 at the end of the first.

The Silver Stars opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 32-14 from 9:43 to 8:34. To close out the firs half, San Antonio went on a 11-2 run from 2:41 until 39.8 seconds left. San Antonio led Tulsa 51-27 at the half. The 24 point halftime deficit is the largest the Shock has had at halftime this season.

The Shock came out of the half on a 11-2 run to make it 53-38 from 9:28 until 6:52. With 4:57 left in the third quarter Tulsa went on a 12-2 run to pull within seven at 57-50 with 3:19 left in the third. San Antonio led Tulsa 64-56 going into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was a back and forth contest but the Silver Stars stayed consistent to pull through with the win.

Glory Johnson led the Shock with 18 points and grabbed five rebounds. Ivory Latta earned 17 off the bench. Roneeka Hodges grabbed six rebounds, while Temeka Johnson added four assists.

Shameka Christon led the Silver Stars with 17 points. Sophia Young added, while Jayne Appel grabbed eleven from the boards. Becky Hammon earned seven assists and eleven points.

The Silver Stars have now won the last ten games against the Shock. The Shock will play the Phoenix Mercury on Friday, September 14th in Phoenix, AZ.
