Shock Center Shares Halloween Memory

SPOOKEY RILEY

Detroit Shock Center Ruth Riley, who is currently home on the beaches of Miami, shares a Halloween memory with Shock fans.

Alright everyone, check this out! Most people get candy for Halloween, right? Wait, sometimes even chips or fruit. Have you ever received a real, live pet for Halloween? Well, I have! That’s right Shock fans, when I was about four years old – I dressed up as Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street. My older sister, younger brother and I were going around the streets of our neighborhood, excitedly collecting all the candy we could. We were doing pretty well filling up our pillowcases with Snickers, Kit Kats, Milk Duds and Mr. Goodbars when we came to a strange looking house.

No need to get too scared, because this story ends happily. We went to the door and a woman answered. She did not have any candy to give us. Instead, she gave us a little black cat! Of course, we were so excited we took him home and named him “Spookey.” He was our first pet.

Thanks to the woman who provided me this unusual Halloween memory and I hope all of you have a safe and happy Halloween.

Sincerely,

Ruth Riley
