Sorry I have been a little out of touch, things have been pretty busy on my end. I spent Christmas with my family, New Years back in Miami with my friends, and now I’m currently playing in the NWBL for the Colorado Chill. As of right now, we are in first place with a record of 7-1. This is a great opportunity for me to play in the States during the WNBA off-season, work on my game, and do a little commentating on the side.
My first game as a color analyst was the Notre Dame vs. St. John’s match-up last week. I will be doing a few more games coming up: February 12th and February 26th on Comcast out of Chicago. It was a great experience, and I look forward to possibly doing more games in the future. Speaking of Notre Dame, if you see Swin around Detroit, you might want to give her a few words of encouragement. She might be a little down, since my IRISH men’s and women’s team did a sweep today of the UCONN huskies!!
One quick amusing story for you, and then I will sign off. We had an exhibition game back in South Dakota, where Becky Hammon is from. So a few of us go to her house, and ride the four-wheelers and try our marksmanship with the shotguns. It looks like Coach Laimbeer isn’t the only person in the league who likes to hunt. I get my “shotgun 101” lesson, and I’m ready to “bust a cap” in a clay pigeon. Okay, well I’m not sure if I shot the gun or vise versa, because the thing just about knocked me on my butt and my little clay pigeon definitely got away untouched!! I guess I’ll stick with the basketball thing.
God bless,
Ruth
