How would you summarize the first half of the 2012 season? Based on your pre-season expectations, what grade would you give the team?

Although our record does not reflect in the wins column, I see so many positive improvements in a short period of time. We have to remember we have a roster that that is filled with first and second year players along with a few veterans. Not too many teams in this league are playing a lot of rookies or second year players as much as we are. It is just part of the expansion process and we will continue to improve so we appreciate everyoneís patience. We knew we were going to play the first half without Lizzie and the loss of Tiffany (Jackson) Jones due to her pregnancy was huge. The first half of the season has been challenging in some respects but rewarding in so many ways. When I look back at the first half, there are a few games that stick out to me that could have had a different outcome. The Los Angeles and Chicago games where we had leads in both and unfortunately werenít able to close these games out. There are others that could have gone the other way but these two game are the obvious ones that we had leads really late in the game and we have to learn how to finish games. I am not someone who would assign a grade or number as it relates to reviewing our basketball team. I am very proud of how our coaching staff is working and preparing our team in every practice to get ready for the game. Our players and coaches know what I expect and I feel confident in the basketball staff and players.

Yes or no. Will Liz Cambage be in uniform when the Shock take on the Silver Stars on August 17th?

We are finalizing her plans as we speak and regardless we expect her back the first week of the second half of the season.

Do the players not participating in the Olympics get a short break? If so, when will they return to Tulsa?

Through the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the players have a seven (7) day vacation. Our players left Tulsa last Saturday and will return July 21st. We will resume practice on Monday, July 23rd.

Do you have any updates on Scholanda Dorrell and Jen Lacy? When are the expected to return?

In talking with our team trainer and Dr. Preston Phillips of Warren Clinic, both players are progressing very well and we expect both to be at full strength when we face San Antonio on Friday, August 17th. The Olympic break could not have come at a better time for us to get Jennifer and Sho healthy and ready to go for the start of the second half of the season.

Can anyone beat Team USA in the 2012 Olympics?

I donít think so. We have so many great players representing our country and it is going to be really fun to see our women compete against some of the best players in the world.

We talk a lot about Coach Klopís impact, but what has Coach Glover and Coach Kathy brought to the organization?

Coach Kathy and Coach Glover bring a great deal of basketball experience to the bench. They are very active in practice, game preparation and development. Their basketball knowledge from fundamentals, training, development, scouting and communication has been outstanding. We feel very fortunate to have both Kathy and Glover as part of our team.

What are you goals for the second half of the season?

Obviously, our goals have not changed. We want to get to the playoffs, continue to compete and improve on both ends of the floor.

Are there any promotions, theme nights, or giveaways coming up after the break?

We have three great giveaways in the month of August. On Friday, August 17th, Blue Cross Blue Shield is giving away life-size Volt Growth Posters for the first 500 kids 12 and under. Friday, August 24th is Breast Health Awareness night. We will be giving away pink back packs to the first 500 fans. Also, after the game we will be auctioning all of the players pink jerseys that were worn that night, with a portion of the proceeds going back to a few local non-profits supporting Breast Health Awareness as well as the Shock Community Foundation. College night presented by Osage Casino is Thursday, August 30th. The first 1,000 fans that enter will receive a mini-basketball. Tickets start at just $5 (must show a college ID) and beers are only $2! I will have an update about what promotions are coming up our last 3 games in September in the next mailbag.

When can I renew my season tickets for 2013?

Our ticket sales team are preparing season ticket invoices and plans that will be released the first week of August. So please be on the lookout for information in the coming weeks.
