Pierson, 25, was the fourth leading scorer (8.8) and third leading rebounder (5.4) during Detroit’s 2006 postseason run. Entering her fifth season in the league, and her third with the Shock, Pierson has averaged 7.4 points and 3.5 rebounds during her WNBA career. During the 2006 campaign – her first full season in Detroit – Pierson played in all 34 games and averaged 6.5 points and 3.9 rebounds.
Pierson, a Texas Tech graduate, was originally drafted with the fourth pick in the 2003 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury. The Shock acquired her in a June 29, 2005 trade in exchange for Andrea Stinson and the Shock’s 2006 second round draft pick.
