DetroitShock.com's photographic tour of Phoenix
Photos from Phoenix: Day Three, Part 2
by Ryan Pretzer

Ever go to a Shock game looking for a new career? Me neither, but that didn’t stop the Tempe Police Department from setting up a recruitment booth. Sergeant Dan Masters, right, was born in Michigan’s own Royal Oak but raised in Arizona. If you’re interested, the TPD pays for the academy and you start at $50K …

This Detroit native moved to Phoenix three years ago for his job with Chase Bank. But we know where his loyalty lies.

I was looking for a typical Mercury fan. Instead, I found Artiste. Would you be surprised to learn she’s been coming to Mercury games since the WNBA started 11 years ago? She greeted me with a secret Mercury handshake “so secret that even the players don’t know.” I believe her.
