Welcome to Phoenix – at least my photo blog of it. I was fortunate enough to make the trip west for Games 3 and 4 of the WNBA Finals and, though I cannot take credit for the idea, will try to give you a peek of what’s going on in Phoenix this week and what the Shock are experiencing off the court as they try to clinch their second consecutive WNBA title.

Waitin’ at the gate. Who’s ready to go to Phoenix? Absolutely nobody … It’s 6:08 a.m. On the flight – during which time I either fell asleep for 90 minutes or passed out from discomfort in the dreaded “Seat E” – the passenger next to me says to me when the landscape comes into view, “It’s all brown. You’ll get sick of it after a while.” |
It’s now shortly after 11 a.m. in Detroit; 8 a.m. in Phoenix – I step off the plane and see … exactly the same scene I did when I left. One Northwest terminal is as good as the next, I suppose. |
Now we’re getting into it. Sculptures of animals and wildlife are a big part of the Western art culture, according to the display. Apparently, the more distinctive the creature is to the desert, the better. See the next photo for verification. |
Good luck finding that in a pawn shop on Woodward. Click here for Part 2... |
