FIBA Eurocup Women
The first game in each of the series featuring the 32 teams remaining in the Sixteenth Finals of the Eurocup Women is in the books, and Shannon Johnson (Emana Venezia) and Plenette Pierson (BC Moscow) both came out on the winning end of their Game 1 encounters.

BC Moscow trounced Baschet ICIM 101-82 behind Pierson’s 27 points, on 12 of 15 shooting from the field, and seven rebounds. Johnson scored 22 points, grabbed six boards and handed out three assists in Emana Venezia’s 74-70 win over KV Imperial AEL. Pierson and Johnson’s Game 1 wins both came on the road, and they return home for their respective Game 2s on January 17.
