Overseas Update - April 15, 2009

Familia Schio devastated Acer Erg Priolo 70-41 on their home court to take a 1-0 series lead in the quarterfinals of the Italian League Playoffs. Taj McWilliams-Franklin put up seven points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out one assist in 23 minutes for Schio. Next, Schio heads to Priolo to square off again on April 16 in the best-of-five series.

UMMC took the regular season series over Dynamo Moscow 3-0, and judging by their 95-60 blow out over Dynamo Moscow on Sunday, they just may take them again in the Russian Super league A semifinals. Deanna Nolan played strong for UMMC with 12 points, four rebounds and one assist. UMMC Ekaterinburg takes a 1-0 lead over Dynamo Moscow in the best-of-three series and heads to Moscow for game two slated for April 15.

Over in France, Olayinka Sanni continues to play well for her team COB Calais. On Sunday, Sanni put up 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in a 62-72 loss to Montpellier. Calais is now in a four-way tie for fourth place in the French standings and plays next on April 15th at Mondeville. On the season in 20 games for Calais, Sanni is averaging 13.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 27 minutes.
