Overseas Update - April 6, 2009

Nolanís team knocked out: Deanna Nolan had 13 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 34 minutes Friday, but UMMC Ekaterinburg still fell short in the Euroleague Final Four against Russian rival Spartak Moscow, 83-74. Ekaterinburg is still alive in the Russian Superleague Playoffs, however, facing Dynamo Moscow in the semifinals on April 12th. Nolan potentially could have one more shot at Spartak Moscow in the Russian Superleague finals. Spartak Moscow went on to win its third straight Euroleague Championship, defeating Halcon Avenida 85-70 in the finals.

Taj still undefeated in Italy: Taj McWilliams Franklin's squad Famila Wuber Schio continues to roll, sitting in second place behind Cras Taranto (21-5) in the Italian league standings at 20-5 overall. Schio is 11-0 since Taj joined the team in February. In those games she is averaging 9.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.2 steals.

Smithís team advances: Katie Smith is averaging 8.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists for Fenerbache, which has advanced to the best-of-five Polish League semifinals after sweeping TED Kayseri in the first round. Fenerbahce finished the regular season in March with a league-best 17-3 record.
