Overseas Update - December 22, 2008

Checking in with a few of our Shock players abroad through three weeks of overseas play in December:

With a record of 5-4 Taj McWilliams-Franklin’s Turkish squad, Galatasaray, has had two games in the Turkish Basketball since we last checked in with her. She put up a 17 point, 10 rebound performance in the 79-81 loss to second ranked Mersin in Turkish play.

In two consecutive games played against Targoviste in EuroCup competition, Galatasaray came away with two victories, Taj put up 22 points and 10 rebounds in the first match and had a nine point, eight rebound, four steal outing in the second.

Deanna Nolan has played eight games with her Russian squad UMMC Ekaterinburg in Euroleague competition. She is averaging 8.6 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per game and 2.5 assists per game, in 26.3 minutes per game. UMMC stands at 9-1 in Euroleage standings.

Through six games in the Russian SuperleagueA Nolan is averaging 9.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists in 25 minutes worth of action on the court. UMMC Ekaterinburg is third in the Superleague standings with a record of 6-2.

In Hornbuckle’s Turkish league competition since we last checked in with her, she had a 15-point outing in Besiktas’ victory over TED Kayseri.

Through seven games of Euroleague competition, Hornbuckle is averaging 10.6 points per game, 6.9 rebounds per game and 2.9 steals per game in 32.9 minutes per game.

In the French Women’s basketball league Olayinka Sanni has been a big contributor to her team averaging 13.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals through 10 games played in France for Cote d'Opale Basket Calais.
