Auburn Hills, MI - Detroit Shock Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Bill Laimbeer announced today that the team has waived Dionnah Jackson leaving the current Training Camp roster at 12 players. A complete roster follows.
The Shock originally selected the Oklahoma grad with the final pick in the first round (13th overall) in the 2005 WNBA Draft. As a collegian, Jackson was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team in 2003, 2004 and 2005, earned Big 12 All-Tournament honors in 2002 and 2004, and was recognized as the Big 12 Tournament Most Valuable Player in 2004. As a senior, Jackson averaged 14.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.17 steals while shooting 45.3% (158-349) from the field.
Jackson did not play in a regular season game for the Shock as the team waived her on the final day of the 2005 preseason. In 2006, she signed with the Sacramento Monarchs, before being waived on May 18 of that year. She re-signed with the Shock on March 15, 2007.
Detroit Shock Training Camp opens on Monday, April 23.
