Fourth of July Celebration

DetroitShock.com wants to know how some of your favorite Detroit Shock stars are going to celebrate the Stars and Stripes and the Fourth of July this year.

Shock Forward Swin Cash:

Did you have any family traditions for the Fourth of July growing up?
"We always have a celebration, a big barbeque, a lot of flowers for the kids. Just having a really good time."

Is there one year's celebration that sticks out in your mind?
"I think every one is special, I get to see a lot of family members that I donít get to see all year long because of being out of town or other events that might have been going on. So the opportunity to come together and break bread is always something that means a lot to me."

What are your plans for celebrating this year?
"Just spend time with some of the girls. I think a couple of my people from home are going to be coming up. So have an opportunity to spend time with them and just enjoy the fourth. Get out to the fire works in Detroit and barbeque."
Shock Guard Deanna Nolan:
Did you have any family traditions for the Fourth of July growing up?
"When I'm home for the fourth of July, we usually end up over at an Aunt's or Grandma's house to barbeque, lounge around, act silly, and catch up on old times."

Is there one year's celebration that sticks out in your mind?
"All of the ones I was able to attend. I am usually away or doing something with basketball. All of the years that I could be with my family and enjoy it."

What are your plans for celebrating this year?
"Since I live right down the street, I am go home for a bit. When we get back from Minnesota on Sunday, some of us are going over to Coach Billís house because he is having a barbeque for us."
Shock Center Iciss Tillis:
Is there one year's celebration that sticks out in your mind?
"One time, when I was about five or six years old, we went out to the country for the fourth and we had some of those fireworks that chase you. My cousin aimed maybe four of them at me, and I was just running around and screaming."

What are your plans for celebrating this year?
"This year, we'll just be getting back from off the road the day before the fourth. This will be my first summer celebrating in Detroit, and I am really happy about it.
Shock Center Ruth Riley:
Did you have any family traditions for the Fourth of July growing up?
"My family uses to go out and watch the fireworks in Purdue, Indiana - near my hometown."

What are your plans for celebrating this year?
"I'll probably go over to coachís house when we get back from Minnesota and spend some time with the team."

What do you love about the Fourth of July? "I think itís just a holiday to get together. Itís an easygoing summer holiday."
