POSTGAME QUOTES
Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

On offense:
“Offensively, you can see this has been coming. If you watched the stat lines of our starters over the last three games you can see they're shooting about fifty percent, they're sharing the basketball pretty well. A game like this offensively has been coming, hopefully we'll continue to play like this.”

On losing leads:
“I think our outside shooting right now is in the tank. Our guards are not shooting the ball very well. Professional basketball is about guards and they have to make shots, and we are not making shots.”

On the importance of the game:
“It was a very important game, no question about it. We play them only three times this year, the next one will be at their place. We have the same record and we don't want them to get a quality road win, a quality road win in this league is all important and winning in Detroit would be a quality road win, and we can't allow teams to get quality road wins here."

Shock Guard Katie Smith

On the game:
“I've felt good all year, its just repetition. Tonight we knocked down shots, everybody was moving the ball. It was an offensive game. In the first half, we both gave up forty some points. There wasn't a whole lot of defense. They have a lot of good players that can score. We came up ahead and we'll take it.”

On working hard:
“I think it’s just a mindset. We put in the work with practice. We've really been crashing the boards on both ends of the floor, individually people stepping up and doing what they need to do when they need to do it. Its been fun because we've we play well together. This is a great team and I think our defense is our steady. This wasn't necessarily our best, but we came out battling.”

Shock Guard Deanna Nolan

On the offense:
“I thought today that we hit a lot of open shots, a lot of good shots, finding each other, which you can see in the assists. We have to know how to put people away. We'd get up eight or ten points and then turn it over and they'd get back in the game.”

On the importance of the game:
“Being an eastern conference game and being that they're going to be a team fighting for a playoff spot, we have to win at home to have that home court advantage. They already won at their place, they had one up on us so we just had to even the score.”

Mystics Head Coach Richie Adubato

On the game:
“We’re up in scoring offensively (this season), but we score big at home. We’ve only won one road game. We’re 6-0 at home, so at home we’re averaging about 83 a game. I wasn’t expecting that with their defense.”

On Deanna Nolan:
“Nolan made two big plays in transition when it was a four point game. She beat us down the floor and made two crossover moves and scored. She’s lightning quick. We know she’s one of the best guards in the league. She made two big plays at the end that I thought were the turning point.”

On their play:
“I was happy with the fact that we were able to rebound with them. They only out rebounded us by three. They’re the best rebounding team in the league and we’re second to last. We’ve got a lot of effort and heart from the people that played. Right now we’re a little shorthanded with DeLisha Milton so when we get in foul-trouble we get small but they still fought. Coming into the game we knew we had to control their transition game and we had to try and match them on the boards and except for that everything’s pretty even.”

Mystics Guard Alana Beard

On her game:
“I didn’t come to play in the first half. The team did a great job coming out in the first half and jumped on them right off the block and that’s what we needed when we’re on the road. I may have had a good game in the second half but the first half was just horrendous.”

On Deanna Nolan:
“She’s a great player.”

On Cheryl Ford’s impact on the Shock team:
“She’s huge. Sometimes I go in there and my eyes will just get big because they’re coming at you. They’ve definitely got the best frontcourt, I think, in the league. Cheryl Ford and the other people that they bring off the bench. Plenette Pierson coming off the bench. I think they’ve got the best front court in the league.”
