    Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

    On effort in the game:
“Our record is not indicative of how bad we’re playing right now. It’s just not pretty to watch. The effort’s not there, we’re not ready to play when we come out. Maybe its poor preparation by the coaches. The effort right now to start the game is lacking.”

On play of the post players:
“Our post players make the same moves over and over again. We teach them new moves in practice every day, they refuse to implement what we teach them. They want to go back to what they think they know best. Right now it’s killing us because we can’t score. They won’t do what the coaches are teaching them, they do what they want to do. That’s the problem right now with our basketball players. It was the same habit they had last year.”

On Friday’s match up with Charlotte:
“They’re struggling and so are we right now. They’re struggling to score points and if we play like this, we’re going to be beat. They have a lot of new faces. They need a win very badly and hopefully they’re not catching us at the right time.”

    Shock Guard Chandi Jones

    On the game:
“We just came out kind of flat tonight. We played against a great basketball team tonight. They executed well and we didn’t, so I’m kind of upset tonight.”

    Shock Forward Cheryl Ford

    On implementing new moves:
“[Bill Laimbeer] has been teaching us new moves and we work on them everyday in practice but we don’t bring them to the game. We all have ears and we don’t have hearing problems, we’re hearing it, but we’re not listening. He knows what he’s talking about, so we take what he’s saying to heart. If we listen and do what we have to do, we’ll be okay.”

    On making adjustments:
“It’s a huge adjustment when you’re used to doing something else. People know our moves, we’re so predictable in the post. I know what he’s talking about because I do the same move all the time. It’s an adjustment that I know I have to make and I’m trying.”

    Storm Head Coach Anne Donovan

    On the game:
“We had three goals defensively: try to slow them up in transition, not give them second shots and not put them on the foul line excessively. We followed all three of those things, which after coming off of the trip and the loss yesterday it really shows a lot about the character of this team.”

On Detroit catching up in the second half:
“We knew they were going to come out stronger they looked to be extremely confident, it didn’t look like it bothered them at all to be down twenty at half time. We know that the Shock is a team that is capable of scoring quickly.”

    On containing Nolan:
“I don’t know if anyone can contain Nolan. We threw Izzy and Lennox at her and she is just tough to stop. So you try to do the best that you can without losing focus on anybody else because she can come off the bench like Kara Braxton and hurt you.”

    Storm Guard Betty Lennox

Difference between tonight’s game and last night’s game:
“The intensity, we came out with aggressiveness and knowing that we let one slip from us in Connecticut. We know that Detroit is a great team and we wanted to catch them not prepared for us and come out with the win.”
