Money raised to benefit The Heat and Warmth Fund

Powell, Nolan THAW out Michigan

The Detroit Shock’s Elaine Powell and Deanna Nolan helped Michigan THAW out this weekend as they took part in Detroit’s Winter Blast, the city’s only winter festival that covered the streets of downtown Detroit From February 8-10.

Nolan and Powell were in the Compuware Building on Saturday afternoon, meeting and greeting festival-goers and signing autographs at Marriott’s THAWed in Bed booth. The booth recreated a signature guest room and featured local celebrities raising money to benefit The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW).

THAW is a nonprofit organization that improves the quality of life in Michigan by providing low-income families with energy assistance during a crisis and by advocating for long-term solutions to energy issues that affect the poor.

Shock fans who were unable to attend Winter Blast can still support THAW’s efforts by calling the donation line at 1 (800) 866-THAW; sending checks payable to The Heat And Warmth Fund and mailing them to 1212 Griswold, Detroit, MI 48226; or logging on to www.thawfund.org and clicking on “Support Our Work.”
