Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer
On the difference between the second half and the first:
We played with a little more energy. Our bench, I thought, really gave us a big lift tonight, especially Kara, obviously she played a great game.
On turnovers:
Turnovers are just frying my brain, its so difficult for a coach to sit there and watch it happen, there really isn’t anything you can do about it, but we overcame it to our credit. If we can stop the turnovers, I think we have a squad that can do some great things. If we take care of the ball, we should beat teams pretty good.
On Katie Smith:
She knows how to play basketball, she passes on time to the right spots. She plays solid defense, [Diana] Taurasi was a big guard, and she played Taurasi very well. She’s a great teammate also, she’ll find her way and learn some more plays.

Shock Guard Katie Smith
On the game:
I’m glad today was a great game. This team’s got a lot of pieces and if we put them all together, we can make a nice run. I’m excited to have a chance, an opportunity, to keep it going and help out a good team.
On the trade:
It was a surprise, I was actually out in Sacramento, we had just arrived in Sacramento to play today, so I found out when I got out there. Total surprise to me and my teammates.

Shock Center Ruth Riley
On her rebound at the end of the game:
I was just being aggressive, getting the ball if it came off, and I was able to get in there and grab it.
On making two free throws at the end of the game:
I missed a few yesterday, I have confidence in my free throws. I’m glad I had the opportunity to nail them today.

Phoenix Coach Carrie Graf
On the game:
They smashed us on the glass in the second half. We didn’t execute at the end of the game and that was my error. We didn’t get the time outs when we needed them. They absolutely dominated the boards in the second half. That is there strength, they are the best team in the league at it and that won them the game in the second half.
|
Phoenix Guard Anna DeForge
On the game:
We got killed on the glass, we didn’t rebound well and we had way too many turnovers in the second half. You can’t expect to win on the road when you don’t rebound and you don’t take care of the ball.
