POSTGAME QUOTES
Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

On the game:
" Physical, knock-down, drag out. In an elimination game like you saw tonight, they didn’t want to go away quietly. It was a tussle. [Tamika] Whitmore, what a great game she played, there’s no doubt about that, she kept them in the game. Its unfortunate that [Tamika] Catchings had to leave the game there for a while, but its basketball, that’s the way it works. The bottom line is that we kept our composure and we kept our cool when they made a run at us and took the lead and we were very aggressive in the fourth quarter. We really wanted to put this game away, we attacked the rim, we attacked at all times in the fourth quarter and it showed on the box score. We’re very excited to go to the next round, we’ve done our part. Everybody at the start of the year was looking at a Detroit-Connecticut match-up in the Eastern Conference Finals. We’re there, we’ll see what happens in the other series."

Shock Forward Swin Cash

On the game:
"I thought it was a balanced effort. I was really happy to see everyone really getting involved. I thought Plenette Pierson did an excellent job coming off the bench providing us with scoring. I think the way our team is set up that any given night anyone can come and play big and Cheryl [Ford] was definitely a force inside, Deanna [Nolan] was making key shots and that’s just the way it goes. We’re playing great basketball, we’re playing together. "

On her effort:
"I just wanted to come out and really be aggressive, just attacking the basket. We wanted to try to get them in early foul trouble just by being aggressive and I think that’s when I’m actually playing at my best when I’m being aggressive and not only making plays for myself but being able to find my teammates and creating for them as well. I came out today aggressive, but that’s what you need in the playoffs. I thought everyone came out and was really physical. We just sustained it throughout the game, being aggressive for 40 minutes."

Fever Head Coach Brian Winters

On the game:
“It was a very physical basketball game. We held our own on the boards. Losing Tamika Catchings at a critical point in the game hurt. She banged her head and had to leave for a little bit. We didn't have her for about 10 minutes there. I was just proud of the way my players played. They played hard and did a lot of very good things. Detroit's got a lot of firepower and they're a powerful team. They're a force to be reckoned with and they won the series."

On Tamika Whitmore's performance:
"I thought Whit (Tamika Whitmore) was absolutely tremendous today. It certainly wouldn't have been a competitive game if she didn't score like she did. She scored from every angle, from every place. Driving, posting, pick and pop shots. Elbow shots, threes - she did it all for us. We got her in the beginning of the year and she became an all-star for the first time here. She's a tremendous player and I'm just happy she's on our team"

On Tamika Catchings:
"I wouldn't call her 100%. I went to go put her in and our trainer said that we should wait a minute. She wanted to make sure she was all right. Which was the right thing to do. We would never jeopardize Tamika's health to put her back in the game. I don't care if it was the last championship game. I would never do that to a player. I put her back in but I could tell that she was still not 100%. You hit your head that hard and you're not going to be quite where you were at before."

Fever Forward Tamika Whitmore

On her game:
"I just felt different at shoot-around. I just picked up the ball and was trying to find a stroke that was comfortable to me. I didn't know what tonight was going to be like but I knew that I was going to shoot the ball a lot better then the previous night."

On the exchange with Cheryl Ford at the end of the game:
"She told me that I was the real deal. I just told her to go a head and win it. So, anybody wants to know who I'm rooting for, now you know."

On her performance breaking Lisa Leslie's record of points in a game:
"If I ever have children and grandchildren, maybe (I'll care). I've got a lot more years left to play. Like I said, I came to Indiana to win an WNBA Championship."
