PLAYER OF THE GAME

  • Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

    On tonight's game:
“Through two thirds, three-quarters of the game it’s the same old routine, we didn’t play hard enough, we didn’t want the game badly enough and it showed in our execution and our turnovers and our missed free throws. We have a disturbing problem that needs to be addressed.”

    On effort:
“We’re not putting forth that effort, mentally. Especially at home, it’s a very disturbing trend. Every game right now we’re going down at the start of the game, and we’re going down at the start of the [second half]. We have an issue that we have to understand and solve.”

On going for two points instead of three down the stretch:
“There was plenty of time on the clock and we had a timeout, you always go for that, you always go for the way to put some pressure on them. Its easier to get a quick two in that situation than a three, and we fouled them and obviously we had an opportunity to get the ball back and we didn’t get it accomplished.”

    Shock Forward Cheryl Ford

    On frustration:
“Its very frustrating to us all because I know all of us want to win. We have to take more care of the ball and prepare ourselves better to come out and start the game.”

    On physical play:
“That’s alright, that’s part of [the game]. We actually like playing physical, that’s part of the game and we just have to play through it.”

    Shock Center Ruth Riley

    On physical play:
“If you look across the league, it’s a physical style of basketball and we have a lot of girls that are going to not back down. I think it tends to happen that way sometimes.”

    On missing shots:
“It's part of the game, nobody shoots 100%. I think we did a better job in the second half of getting offensive rebounds, especially when [Ford] and [Braxton] are in the game, buts its just a matter of limiting our turnovers.”
