Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer
On tonight’s victory :
“It was an ugly one, but we’ll take it. We were a little frustrated and had some bad luck early on, but the team had the confidence to fight through it and get a victory. Every road game in this league is tough. Everyone stepped up their game in the fourth quarter and executed when we needed it most. This was a great learning experience.”
On Cheryl Ford’s performance:
“What else can you say, Cheryl was a monster tonight. She completely dominated the game. She consistently scored and rebounded and did most of the damage for us.”
|
Shock Forward Cheryl Ford
On her performance (22 points, 19 rebounds):
“We knew we were going to have to pound the ball inside tonight. San Antonio is a great team, but we knew we were bigger inside. Our game plan was to go inside, rebound and limit our turnovers.”
On picking up a tough road victory :
“We won this game as a team. We pulled together when we needed to and were able to get a tough road win. We proved tonight that we’re not just a one-woman team. We did a great job of playing together as a team.”

Shock Center Ruth Riley
On hitting shots down the stretch :
“In the first half, they were beating us back on the offensive end, and we were losing our man on the defensive end and they were making wide open threes “Everyone stepped up their game tonight when we needed it most. San Antonio is a tough place to play. In order to win on the road, you have to be able to execute in the fourth quarter and our defense won the game for us tonight.”
|
Shock Guard Katie Smith
On hitting shots down the stretch :
“My job as the point guard is to get the team organized, even when my shot isn’t going down. We did a great job of hitting big buckets down the stretch. It felt good to hit my shot late in the game, but tonight just wasn’t my night.”
