    Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

    On tonight's game:
“They’re going to give me more gray hairs. Indiana played spectacular the first half. Their energy level was good and ours was zero. Second half, we full court pressed. That hurt them. We played zone, took away their mid range shots, and forced them to take three’s.”

On Swin Cash & Deanna Nolan:
    “They played great.”

    Shock Forward Swin Cash

“We played better defense in the second half. We hang our hat on playing good defense because it leads to offense for us. Fever got off to a great start in the first half, but we came out in the second half and made the plays to win the game.”

    Shock Guard Deanna Nolan

“We dug ourselves a hole in the first half. We weren’t playing very good defense. In the second half, coach had us come out and press the ball which lead to some easy steals for us. We made an extra effort to get to their shooters on defense. We put Swin in a lot of one on one situations and they just couldn’t guard her.”

    Fever Head Coach Brian Winters

On change from 1st half to 2nd:
“They pressed us and we got rattled and we made too many turnovers. We talked in the locker room about the first 3 to 5 minutes - that would be very important and we did not respond. We gave up 12 points off turnovers, so therefore turnovers was the main thing.”

“We have to learn from every new situation. We have a new group and a young group and we must learn to respond. Detroit knew what they had to do and did it. They have a long, tall, physical team and are the best rebounders in the WNBA. Detroit played a 2-3 zone and we did not adjust to it. We just did not make our shots. Tamika (Catchings) getting in foul trouble did not help us. It was unfortunate, but we must learn to play without her. We’re going on the road for two games so we must regroup.”

    Fever Guard Kelly Miller

On what went wrong in second half:
“I think it was just a mental thing. They gave us a new defensive look.”

On being intimidated by WNBA Champions: “We didn’t think about them being the champions. We just didn’t execute. We will learn from this. We will keep this in the back of our minds. We let them back in the game in the first five minutes of the second half and they got on a role.”

    Fever Forward Tamika Catchings

On Fever’s poor showing in second half:
“We didn’t execute our offense. We didn’t attack the basket. We had too many turnovers.”

On difference from 1st to 2nd half:
“We gave them too many offensive rebounds. Which gave them second chance points. We fouled and put them on the line. “We need to execute when they went to a zone. We practiced against that. We were just out of whack. We were not complacent. We were just out of whack.”
