POSTGAME QUOTES
Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

On Deanna Nolan:
“She’s un-guardable when she’s in that zone like that because she’s so fast and we were looking for her, her teammates were looking for her and she was producing.”

On the record of 9-4:
“We have a long way to go. We have three road games coming up; three tough road games, but we’re making progress. Our team, they know who they are, with the exception of the first half today. They know who they are an they enjoy playing with each other, they’re getting pretty good.”

On winning at home:
“It was important not only for our record, but also for the psyche of our team at home. Last year I don’t think we won as many games as we should. In professional basketball you have to take care of your home court and I think this year we’re doing a good job of that."

Shock Forward Cheryl Ford

On the difference between halves:
“We knew we could do better than that. We pulled together and we got a win, but we’re going to lose a game like that, turning it on and off.”

On the road trip:
“It’s going to be tough, all road trips are tough. Its hard to win on the road but we’re going to go out and take one game at a time.”

Shock Guard Deanna Nolan

On the game:
“In the first half, they were beating us back on the offensive end, and we were losing our man on the defensive end and they were making wide open threes and that’s how they got a nine point lead in the second quarter. In the second half, we came out with a lot more energy, focused on the offensive and defensive ends, and being aggressive on both ends and making them miss shots and we converted on the other end.”

Sting Head Coach Muggsy Bogues

On holding onto the lead:
“Yeah. We've got two different teams showing up. We came out very aggressive in the first half and held them to five points in the second quarter. We did everything we said we wanted to do and we wanted to sustain it for 40 minutes. It's becoming our Achilles heel. We can't finish ball games. We have to find a way to fight. The effort's there but we're not taking advantage or being aggressive on both ends when we need to.”

On Helen Darling back in the line-up:
“It was good to see Helen. She came in here with some leadership but we've got to find a way to fight our way through this. We're getting out-rebounded 44-28 tonight, so that's 16 possessions away from our basket. We've got to do a much better job.”

On Deanna Nolan:
“She's quick. She's explosive and she pretty much took over the game. You've got to help as much as you can and you've got rely on people containing her. She's streaky and had her jump shot working tonight and that pretty much killed us.”

Sting Center Tammy Sutton-Brown

On holding onto the lead:
“Lots of trouble. We came out strong. We did very well in the second quarter and then came out real flat in the third quarter. The third quarter has been one of our downfalls this season and we just have to figure out what makes us tick during halftime so we can come out with that same intensity in the second quarter. Until we get that we're not going to win any games.”

On Helen Darling back in the line-up:
“It's very nice. It's great to see her back. She's been out for a while, we went down at the same time as I did. She just brings that leadership. She's one of the captains of our team and it's great to have her running the show again.”
