On the game:
“Playing [Charlotte] is never a pretty ball game, let’s face the facts. They are a slow-down team; they are very patient with the basketball. They play solid defense so playing them is always going to be in the low 60s, that’s the way it is.”

On improvement from the last game:
“This is a step forward, our attitude is better, our intensity is better. We were prepared mentally to play the game, which was a big change from the last three. We still have some issues, a lot of turnovers here or there, they were dumb turnovers, but you can’t fault our effort tonight The whole team was prepared to play basketball tonight and that’s what we’re looking for. You could sense it. Yesterday we had a nice meeting with everybody. We all aired out what we wanted to do and then you could tell today at shoot-around that we were ready to go.”

On the upcoming road trip:
“You have to go on the road sooner or later so we might as well go now. We had a good game today to kick it off. We’ll go to New York we already know them very well, we’ve played them three times in the last three weeks. It’s a game we’d like to win.”

On effort:
“That’s what we stressed yesterday in practice and today. Our pre-game talk with Bill was about intensity, that’s what he put on the board. We brought it from the start, definitely. We know that [Charlotte] is going to grind it out, run their offense for the whole thirty seconds, they’re a very patient team and we just knew coming into it that we have to patient.”

On balanced scoring:
“We need other players to step up and score right now with Swin out which is our captain and our leading scorer. We all have to gel together and play together. Everybody has to contribute in their own way.”

“I think it worked on the defensive end and that led to offense, for me personally. It’s been frustrating because I’ve been trying to keep it consistent. This is a start; hopefully I can keep it going and if not the team is behind me. That last game we didn’t have enough energy, we just said bring the energy and take it from there. Focus on defense first.”
