Tracy Murray Joins Shock Coaching Staff

Retired NBA player Tracy Murray has agreed to join Interim Head Coach Teresa Edwards’ staff as an assistant coach for the remainder of the 2011 season.

Murray played 12 seasons in the NBA for six different teams. A graduate of the University of California – Los Angeles, Murray had his best pro season in 1995-96 with the Toronto Raptors when he averaged 16.2 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 42.2 percent from the three-point line.

“Tracy brings next level experience to our team and balances our basketball intensity while providing post experience,” Interim Head Coach Teresa Edwards said. “Tracy’s experience extending from the NBA is something that excites me a great deal.”

Murray retired from the NBA in 2004 and has been a broadcaster for the UCLA Bruins men’s basketball games. Murray made his debut on the bench on Thursday July 28th when the Shock took on the Chicago Sky at the BOK Center.
