Detroit Shock 78, Washington Mystics 83

For the second time in as many games, the Shock needed two overtime periods to determine a winner. Unfortunately, they came out on the short end of the stick again falling by five to the Washington Mystics. The game saw 21 ties and 24 lead changes with neither team leading by more than six the entire evening.

Washington connected on 46.8 percent of its field goals compared to just 31.9 percent for Detroit, but the Shock countered by committing just eight turnovers to the Mystics’ 28. Val Whiting posted a double-double off the bench for the Shock with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Chamique Holdsclaw led Washington with a 20-point, 16-rebound double-double of her own.
