Auburn Hills – Detroit had Sandy Brondello and her 89.1 free throw percentage at the line with 6.1 seconds to play trailing by two vs. the Sacramento Monarchs. A tie seemed all but assured, however Brondello missed the second shot. Cindy Brown came out of the scrum with the rebound and scored the go-ahead bucket with two seconds left on the clock as the Shock improved to 12-10 on the year.

Brown’s shot capped a furious rally that saw Detroit score six of the final seven points of the game in the last 34.3 seconds. Sacramento missed three of four free throws during that time. Neither team led by more than six points the entire game that featured 12 ties and 10 lead changes. Brondello led four Shock players in double-figure scoring with 20 points and Cindy Brown posted yet another double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Tangela Smith led all scorers with 26 points for Sacramento
