Auburn Hills – The Shock wasted no time in turning their first win in franchise history into their first winning streak with a 61-57 win over the Sacramento Monarchs. The teams were tied mid-way through the first period at 17-17, before the Shock went on a 14-5 run to close out the half.

Detroit pushed its lead to as many as 13 early in the second half, but Sacramento continued to chip away closing to within two on a Lady Hardmon layup with 2.9 seconds to go in the game before Sandy Brondello’s lay-up with less than a second remaining closed out the scoring. Cindy Porter recorded the first double-double of her career (10 points, 11 rebounds), and Korie Hlede just missed posting one of her own with an 18-point, nine-rebound performance.
