Auburn Hills - It wasn’t easy, but the Shock finally put together a winning streak in 2002 with a three-point win over the Minnesota Lynx. The teams entered their respective locker rooms tied at 38 after the first 20 minutes of play, but a 21-6 Lynx run early in the second gave Minnesota an eight-point advantage, 59-51, with 10:39 remaining. Shortly thereafter, an Ayana Walker three-point play triggered a 16-7 Shock run to give Detroit a one-point lead, 67-66.
The Shock closed out the win by connecting on five of six free throws, making 20 of 22 from the charity stripe on the evening.
Swin Cash paced the Shock with 18 points and six boards while Deanna Nolan chipped in with 15 points in just 20 minutes of play. Minnesota’s Katie Smith led all scorers with 27 points.
