Auburn Hills– It required an extra frame for the Shock to come out on top of this see-saw affair. There were 10 different lead changes during this match, with the 9-0 and back-to-back WNBA champion Sparks holding a 16 point lead with 16:04 remaining in the second half. Detroit would trail for the next 13 minutes before finally taking a 70-69 lead with 3:00 left in regulation. Then, with L.A. up by two, 76-74, with 34.8 seconds left in regulation, Cash and Riley each added two clutch free throws to send the game into overtime.

In the end, it was the Shock’s 11-point overtime that led to the win. All 5 starters for both the Shock and the Sparks scored in double figures with Kedra Holland-Corn, from the Shock, the only non-starter to contribute in double figures. Cheryl Ford led the way with a monster game, posting another double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Swin Cash led the way in points for the Shock with 20 points. Los Angeles’s Tamecka Dixon was the top scorer for the L.A. team with 22 points.
