Auburn Hills – The second half between Los Angeles and Detroit saw 14 lead changes and 11 ties, but the Sparks outscored the Shock 15-6 in overtime to send Detroit to its fourth straight defeat. After Tamecka Dixon nailed an 11-foot jumper to tie the game at 83 with 1:03 left in regulation, Lisa Leslie missed two free throws and the Shock missed a pair of jumpers down the stretch to send the game into OT.
Leslie and Ukari Figgs each scored four points in the extra period as five Los Angeles players dented the scoring column in overtime. Leslie finished with a game-high 28 points for Los Angeles while Edwina Brown’s 18 points off the bench led Detroit. The Shock reserves scored 49 of Detroit’s 89 points including all six points in overtime.
