Shock HERstory
Detroit Shock 58, Indiana Fever 59
July 17, 2005 at The Palace of Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills, MI

Auburn Hills-- A change a scenery did not alter the outcome for All-Star Tamika Catchings and the Indiana Fever. Catchings scored 21 points to lead the Fever to their second victory over the Detroit Shock in three days, a 59-58 triumph. After scoring 20 points and collecting 14 rebounds in Friday's win over the Shock, Catchings' jumper with 7:02 remaining gave Indiana a 49-42 lead.

Deanna Nolan made a layup with 1:29 to go, pulling the Shock within 58-55. After Catchings and Detroit's Kara Braxton each made 1-of-2 free throws, Cheryl Ford converted layup with 5.2 seconds remaining to reduce the margin to one. Following a timeout, Detroit fouled Tan White, who missed both foul shots but grabbed her own rebound and dribbled out the clock. Off to its best 17-game start in franchise history, Indiana (11-6) beat Detroit for the sixth consecutive time and raised its conference record to 8-1. Ford scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half for the Shock (7-10), who committed 24 turnovers for the second straight contest and have lost five of six.

Both teams shot 40 percent (21-of-53) from the floor. Detroit lost despite a 40-26 rebounding advantage.
