Shock HERstory
Detroit Shock 68, Indiana Fever 69
June 29, 2004 at The Palace at Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills, MI

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., -- Kelly Miller's 3-pointer delivered more home heartache for the Detroit Shock.

Miller's shot with six tenths of a second remaining gave the Indiana Fever a 69-68 victory over the defending champion Shock, who have lost three in a row.

Detroit (7-7) fell out of a virtual tie for first place in the Eastern Conference with Indiana (8-6) and Connecticut (8-7). In Sunday's home loss to the Sun, it gave away the lead in the final two minutes.

The Shock had a 68-64 lead before a basket with 42 seconds left by Indiana's Tamika Catchings, who scored 19 points. The Fever got a stop and went to Miller, whose shot from the left corner splashed through.

Deanna Nolan missed an 18-footer at the buzzer for the Shock, who shot 48 percent (30-of-62) from the field but attempted just nine free throws, making six. Swin Cash scored 17 points and Nolan added 14.

Miller scored 17 points, making 3-of-3 3-pointers. Indiana shot just 43 percent (25-of-58) but made 7-of-13 from the arc.

The Fever missed 10 straight shots as the Shock went on a 14-2 run, opening a 52-44 lead with 12 minutes to play. They extended it to 58-49 on a basket by rookie Iciss Tillis with 8:12 to go before Catchings fueled a rally by the Fever.
