All-Star Sheryl Swoopes scored 22 points and the Comets used a big second-half run en route to a 75-66 victory over the Shock. Houston (9-5) has won a season-high five straight games while Detroit (6-8) has now lost six of seven. The Comets trailed 36-31 at the half and were down 51-41 with 13:37 to play before going on an 18-2 run to take control of the game. Sancho Lyttle scored seven points and Tari Phillips added six in the spurt. Swoopes had 12 in the first half to keep the Comets close and Janeth Arcain added 14 for Houston.
Kara Braxton scored 20 points in 26 minutes off the bench and All-Star Deanna Nolan added 19 for Detroit, which shot just 7-of-14 from the foul line compared to 18-of-24 for Houston. Two-time All-Star forward Swin Cash made her season debut for Detroit and scored two points in 18 minutes. The Shock activated Cash from the injured list Tuesday, 10 months after she suffered a torn ACL
