Washington, D.C. – Detroit finally got in the win column posting a 70-57 win over expansion sister Washington behind a career-high 20 points from Korie Hlede. Detroit shot 49.2 percent from the field on the night while holding the Mystics to just 33.9 percent. The Shock never trailed in the game opening up a double-digit lead at the 11:34 mark of the first half. They pushed their lead to as many as 19 in the period and led by 14 at the break.

In the second half Detroit’s lead never slipped below 10 points and they cruised to the 13-point win. Alessandra Santos de Oliveira posted a double-double for the Mystics in the losing effort with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
