Detroit Shock 66, Washington Mystics 75
Washington - The Washington Mystics helped the Shock record an imperfect 10 by handing them their 10th loss to begin the year. The teams found themselves tied at 58 with 6:53 to go in the game, trading baskets over the final minutes until a Chamique Holdsclaw three-point play gave Washington a 65-64 advantage. They then went on to score 10 of the final 13 points of the game. Wendy Palmer and Deanna Nolan each scored 15 points for Detroit while Holdsclaw posted a 24-point, 11-rebound double-double for the Mystics. It would prove to be the final game for Head Coach Greg Williams who was relieved of his duties and replaced by former Pistons Bad Boy Bill Laimbeer shortly after the loss.
