Detroit Shock 74, Utah Starzz 67

Salt Lake City – The Shock got back on the winning track following its second four-game losing streak of the year with a 74-67 win over the Utah Starzz. Neither team shot particularly well, but Korie Hlede (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Sandy Brondello (23 and 10) each posted a double-double on the night to help erase a nine-point second-half lead for the Starzz.

Utah led by three at the break, but pushed their lead to nine with 15:31 remaining in the game. They still led by six with 12:27 left on the clock, but the Shock tied the game up, 51-51, on a Hlede three-pointer with 8:58 to go. The score was still tied with 7:57 to go when Detroit scored the next eight points to take the lead for good. Utah’s Margo Dydek established a WNBA record for blocks in a half (5) and in a game (6).
